The Devon Youth Wind Orchestra (DYWO) is a symphonic wind orchestra for young musicians from across Devon.

 

Open to intermediate and advanced brass, woodwind, and percussion players, DYWO provides an opportunity for young musicians to enhance their skills while enjoying a diverse range of music. We offer young musicians the opportunity to improve their musicianship, while playing a fun and varied selection of music.

We meet monthly and host an annual residential weekend. Throughout the year, we perform various events and venues, offering valuable performance experience that fosters self-confidence. Playing in an ensemble enhances skills like teamwork, listening, discipline, and self-motivation, which also looks impressive on University applications!

In addition to rehearsals and concerts we do bi-annul tours. Our most recent one in 2026 was to Belgium where we were extremely proud to play under the Menin Gate as part of the Last Post Ceremony, along with 2 other concerts. We are already working on our next Concert Tour in 2028.
